Director of Financial Reporting

Locations: Prefer candidates within 30 miles of an Aunalytics office (South Bend, IN / Traverse City, MI. / Kalamazoo, MI / Bellefontaine, OH). However, open to remote work for exceptional talent.

Position Overview

As the Director of Financial Reporting at Aunalytics, you will be responsible for the management of the day-to-day accounting functions of the company.  Your team will execute all aspects of the financial function including daily operations, information flow, and financial close and reporting. In addition, you will play a vital role in growing the company organically across multiple business units and through expansion into new markets. You will work hand-in-hand with the CFO, VP of Finance, and our business unit leaders, who will rely on you to think strategically and provide business insights that drive maximum value.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage all aspects of the financial function including internal and external reporting, audit coordination, capital expenditures, cash management, financial controls, and accounts receivable and accounts payable activity
  • Prepare technical accounting whitepapers and memos on applicable complex topics including accounting for business combinations, revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, VIE model/consolidation considerations, adoption of new accounting standards like ASC 842, etc
  • Research, assess, and prepare required financial statement disclosures
  • Manage the corporate accounting team performing the month-end close duties including, but not limited to: recording, reconciling, and analyzing general ledger accounts and transactions
  • Oversee and perform daily operational functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury activities
  • Coordinate with external audit team and assist with annual financial statement audits and coordinate with tax compliance consultants
  • Develop and implement process and system improvements, where appropriate, to capture value through improving efficiency, leveraging technology, and reducing waste – which may include assessing tools and applications to introduce or enhance automation of traditionally manually intensive processes
  • Help develop integration plans for acquisitions and then execute the post-acquisition financial integration processes
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to establish annual objectives, financial plans and budgets, and compliance with corporate governance practices
  • Partner with business unit leaders in monthly business reviews of costs versus plans. Communicate trends to understand key business drivers; develop and track key performance indicators
  • Develop and execute management reporting tools to drive effective business decisions, using information and data from other business units as necessary
  • Tackle ad hoc projects as needed

Required Skills

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation REQUIRED
  • Two years of public company work experience REQUIRED – either through serving SEC clients or working for an SEC Issuer
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required, graduate degree preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP standards
  • Three to seven years of related work experience
  • Keen financial and business acumen
  • A passion for the details and an ability to explain them to diverse audiences
